KSI’s net worth: $20 million
KSI, full name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, is one of the biggest and richest YouTubers in the world with over 30 million subscribers. He is still early on in his career and already has a net worth of $20 million.
KSI was born Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji. In 2009, at the age of 16, KSI opened a YouTube channel under the name KSIOlajideBT. Ten years later, he now has 30 million YouTube subscribers and has been named as one of the UK’s most influential online creators, and one of the richest YouTubers in the world. It’s estimated that KSI has a net worth of $20 million.
In addition to his YouTube presence, KSI is also a rapper and boxer.
When KSI first opened his YouTube account, his focus was on gaming commentary videos, also known as “Let’s Play (LP),” where a player films himself going through the game while offering insight and tips about the game itself. Over the next few years, he started adding comedy videos and some of his own home-produced songs.
By 2013, he had three million subscribers, which soon after led to the creation of the entertainment collective Ultimate Sidemen. Sidemen is the collaborative effort of seven British YouTubers, who not only produce videos but also sell their own merchandise. As a group, they make an estimated $12,500 per day in monetized views and merchandise sales.
In 2015, Forbes estimated that KSI’s fortune was around $4.5 million, making him one of the world’s highest-paid YouTube stars of the year. With some of his videos earning as much as $250,000 from advertising, there’s no doubt KSI is doing even better today.
KSI started posting his own rap songs on YouTube early on, then released his first professional single in 2015. While some of his songs placed in the charts, it wasn’t until his 2019 boxing match that he gained wider recognition, placing in the charts in the Top 20. His debut album Dissimulation, released in May 2020, did very well, with two of the singles (Down Like That & Houdini) placing in the Top 10. While it’s hard to estimate how much money a Top 10 song makes, it can be millions of dollars when you add up both long-term and indirect earnings and direct earnings from fees for radio broadcasting, royalties, and streaming service revenues.
In 2016, KSI had one of the starring roles in the direct-to-video comedy Laid in America. There’s no direct information on how much he made from the movie, but the film did relatively well, as he promoted it heavily through YouTube.
Two years later, a documentary crew followed KSI’s preparation for his first boxing match against British YouTuber Joe Weller. The result was KSI: Can’t Lose, which helped generate interest in the fight but also increased KSI’s channel views and his revenues as a result.
KSI has participated in three boxing matches. The first one, which was chronicled in the documentary, was broadcasted live on YouTube, generated great publicity for KSI’s channel. There are no specific numbers attached to how much he earned from that fight and the exposure that came from it.
His second fight, against American YouTuber Logan Paul, was a sold-out event broadcasted live from Manchester Arena. Over 1 million people watched the fight live from home through pay-per-view, earning over $14 million in combined online revenue and gate ticket sales. How much of that went into KSI’s pockets is hard to guess, but it’s fair to say it was probably a healthy amount.
About a year and a half later, KSI and Logal Paul had a rematch – which ended in a majority draw. According to The Mirror, the two YouTube stars earned a $900,000 paycheck each from their rematch. That’s in addition to any percentage of ticket sales of pay-per-view percentages they received later.
KSI owns 12 properties around the UK with a combined value of over $12.5 millions. He also receives endorsements from several companies (from Xbox One to smaller brands), some of which provide as much as $90000 for appearances in his social media channels.
So what is KSI’s net worth?
KSI’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million as of October 2020.
