Jake Paul’s net worth: $17 million
Jake Paul is a social media personality and actor. Most of his fortune comes from YouTube ads, although he also gets paid for promoting products and other ventures. He ranks 10th on the world’s highest-paid YouTuber rankings.
Jake Paul started his social media career on Vine, where he was discovered and hired to join the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark. Two years later in 2017, he was evicted from his home in California after repeated noise complaints from neighbors. As a result of his legal issues, Disney fired him from the show.
Paul launched his YouTube channel while he was still part of Bizaardvark, but didn’t focus much on promoting it till he left the show. The first big hit of the channel was a music video called “It’s Everyday Bro,” which was viewed over 70 million times on the first month of release and received highly negative comments and mostly thumbs down from viewers. It still launched his career.
Although Paul managed the channel on his own at first, in 2017 he created an entertainment collaborative known as Team 10. The group, which received $1 million in financing from several companies, focuses on influencer marketing management and teen entertainment. Paul’s YouTube channel now has over 20 million subscribers and more than 6.5 billion views.
Business Ventures, Partnerships and Everything Else
In February 2018, Jake and Logan Paul agreed to participate in a boxing match against KSI and his younger brother, Deji. Though the main match was the one between KSI and Logan Paul, Jake did well too, winning via technical knockout (TKO) in the fifth round. A year and a half later, he had another boxing match against YouTuber AnEsonGib, which he also won via TKO in the first round. While there’s little information on how much he made with the fights, the fight between Logan and KSI brought in about $11 million dollars, so even with much smaller numbers, Jake probably did OK too.
In early 2019, Paul teamed up with MysteryBrand, which offers “mystery boxes” filled with prizes that vary from finger spinners and brand-name sneakers to a $250 million mansion. He was paid at least paid $100,000 for the promotion. The company has been under fire for promising prizes they don’t actually own (like said mansion) or not delivering winnings.
In February 2020, Paul announced he would launch a subscription platform known as “The Financial Freedom Movement” venture, where for $19.99 a month he offers subscribers “cutting edge mentorship, coaching, and training” to learn about building an online presence. However, reviews about the service have been underwhelming, citing poor content and lack of practical advice. The service is still available and selling.
Real Estate: Until 2017, Paul lived in a $17,000-a-month rented Calabasas mansion with members of his Team 10. After being evicted, he bought a $6.9 million, 15,000-square-foot mansion in the same area. In addition to a gated driveway and lots of marble, the home also has a temperature-controlled wine closet, a home theater and a massive pool with a stunning view. The members of his team moved in with him.
Controversies and Legal Trouble
Aside from the noise complaints and getting fired from Disney, Paul also got into trouble for throwing a huge party during the COVID-19 pandemic. He not only received a visit from the police to break up the celebration but Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub said she was looking into fines and penalties that could be issued for breaking social distancing rules.
About a month later in August 2020, Paul’s house was raided by the FBI as part of “an ongoing investigation.” No details have been shared regarding what the investigation is about.
