David Dobrik Net Worth: $7 million
Born in Slovakia in 1996, Dobrik is one of the world’s most popular YouTube personalities with over 18 million subscribers and has a net worth of $7 million.
Dobrik’s family moved to Illinois from Slovakia when he was six years old. After high school, he left for Los Angeles to pursue a social media career.
YouTube Career and Fame
Dobrik started his social media career on Vine before opening The Vlog Squad YouTube channel in 2015. Since then, he’s built a massive audience of 18 million subscribers and became the fifth-most viewed channel of 2019 with almost 2.5 billion views. His channel mostly focuses on a mix of pranks, funny videos, and cute animals. With that many subscribers and views, Dobrik is earning quite a bit of money on ads – likely anywhere from $5,000-10,000 per day.
Sponsorships and partnerships are a great way for social media stars to make money. Dobrik has been silent about how much money he makes from these partnerships, but digital marketing experts estimate well-known social media stars can easily make $50,000-100,000 for these partnerships.
In April 2019, Dobrik teamed up with restaurant chain Chipotle for a number of campaigns, including one on National Burrito Day, where the company officially renamed Dobrik’s go-to Chipotle order as “the Dobrik Burrito.” He also hosted a virtual prom afterparty with Chipotle, where participants had a chance to win a $25K college scholarship.
Dobrik has an ongoing partnership with SeatGeek, the largest event ticket search engine. Thanks to the relationship, Dobrik has given away over a dozen luxury vehicles and surprised people with tickets to almost-impossible-to-get events like the Super Bowl.
Dobrik’s fame has earned him jobs outside the social media world, including spots in movies and TV. One of his most famous collaborations to date is becoming the voice of security guard bird Axel in The Angry Birds Movie 2. In November 2019, he joined Nickelodeon TV’s competition show America’s Most Musical Family as a judge, alongside superstars Ciara, Debbie Gibson and Nick Lachey.
He’s currently a judge on the reality TV show Dodgeball Thunderdome, where contestants compete for the grand prize of $25,000. There’s no information on how much money Dobrik’s made for any of these roles, but as a well-known social media star with a major following, he was certainly paid well for all these roles.
In January 2020, Dobrik launched David’s Disposable, a camera app that takes retro-looking photos. While the app is free, it offers in-app purchases and a premium subscription fee of $1 to remove ads and unlock all features. While we don’t know how many users are choosing to pay, the app has already had over one million downloads. Even with a tiny percentage of users switching to premium, the app would be doing very well financially.
In August 2020, TikTok started awarding money from its Creator Fund to users who “bring a ray of sunshine through their unique, innovative, and relatable content.” The fund is starting at $200 million, and TikTok is expecting to eventually give away $1 billion within the next three years. Dobrik was part of the first group (of 19 people) who received money in August. Though there are no details on how much each recipient received, TikTok is being very generous with their money so it’s safe to say, Dobrik was probably happy.
From 2017 to 2020, Dobrik lived in a 2,700-square-foot four-bedroom home in Studio City. He paid $2.5 million for it and lived there with members of his YouTube team.
In August 2020, he moved to a 7,800-square-feet, $9.5 million home in Sherman Oaks, California. The new home has a massive outdoor pool, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
